Job Overview
The Executive Principal of Alternative Education supports school and program principals in the
development of effective school and program operations, improvement plans, and annual goalsetting and monitors the progress of these objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities
The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being
performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ
and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.

  • Assists the Director in supporting and monitoring all school and program
    operations.
  • Guides principals on the implementation and discipline policies in high school,
    including analyzing discipline disproportionality data and equitable practices.
    Keeps teachers and administrators abreast of educational trends and
    programs.
  • Assists the Director in analyzing enrollment projections, recommending
    staffing, assigning contingency staffing, and monitoring differentiated staffing
    plans.
  • Assists the Director in gathering information related to parent and community
    concerns about school and program operations and responds to these
    inquiries.
  • Collaborates with the Office of School Administration and/or the Office of
    Human Resources and Talent Development to investigate and/or address
    school and program community inquiries or complaints.
  • Coaches, supports and evaluates the school or program principals as they
    provide management and leadership for their schools such that each school
    aligns with the LCPS mission and goals.
  • Assist the Director in preparing for and conducting meetings and professional
    development activities for school principals and programs, assistant
    principals, and deans.

Qualifications
Below are the minimum qualifications for this job.

Education
Master’s degree

Experience
Five years of progressive overall education experience in teaching, supervision,
administration, with a minimum of three years focused on school administration

Licenses and Certifications
Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement in Admin and Supervision PreK-12

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and tracking budgets
  • Knowledge of state and federal statutes, regulations, and rules relating to instruction,
    curriculum, student learning and ability to advise interested parties of the provisions of
    the laws
  • Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and to meet deadlines
  • Possesses strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds
  • Demonstrate the leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working
    effectively with administrators and teachers

and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time.
Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or
constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
