Job Summary: 
The Math Interventionist works closely with high school freshmen who require additional support and remediation in mathematics. The Math Interventionist is instrumental in identifying learning gaps, designing targeted intervention plans, providing personalized instruction, and regularly monitoring students’ progress toward success. The Math Interventionist supports the mission and vision of the District Math Committee and District Math Plan. The Math Interventionist must demonstrate expertise in district and state assessments to include administration and planning for improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with small groups of students to improve mathematics skills through strategic interventions.
  • Develop and implement individualized, skill-appropriate math intervention plans to increase students’ conceptual understanding and procedural fluency in mathematics.
  • Analyze baseline screening data, diagnostic data, progress monitoring data, and summative data to make instructional decisions about students and interventions. Analyze testing data to make instructional decisions for various intervention groups.
  • Assist with instructional planning and the identification of resources to meet diverse students, as identified by district and state assessment data.
  • Collaborate with teachers to group students based on learning needs.
  • Participate in PLCs and MTSS process to review data and identify students who are not progressing.
  • Collaborate with core math teachers and other educational professionals to align intervention strategies with core math instructional lessons
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and school staff regarding intervention progress and strategies for continued improvement.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor/administrator.

  
Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred. 
  • Over three years experience as a Secondary Math teacher.
  • Valid Colorado Teaching License with appropriate content endorsement.
  • Knowledge of content standards and various types of assessments with an emphasis in the content area.
  • Knowledge of the eight mathematical practices and the eight mathematical teaching practices. 
  • Ability to analyze assessment data and design effective intervention plans.
  • Ability to demonstrate competence with a wide range of instructional strategies. 
  • Ability to demonstrate successful use of specific intervention strategies with small groups of students.
  • Good organization and communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders within the school environment. 
  • Knowledge of and experience in Professional Learning Communities.
    Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
