MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Appropriate New York State Administrative Certification
  • Successful completion of NYS Educating All Students (EAS) Exam
  • I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with Immigrations Reform and Control Act
  • A minimum of five years experience in an educational setting
  • Earned Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Holds high and clear expectations for students, staff, and self
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of staff and community groups
  • Possesses a leadership/management style which fosters team effort
  • Knowledge of curriculum and the instructional supervision process as well as State standards
  • Completion of mandatory training sessions

ACCOUNTABILITY: The Substitute Administrator reports directly to the Building Principal or another supervising administrator or in accordance with currently established district and collective bargaining procedures and evaluation criteria.

NATURE OF THE POSITION: To assist in the instructional leadership, organization, administration and supervision of the school.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in maintaining high standards of student conduct and discipline
  • Assist in the scheduling of tests and examinations
  • Assist in coordination extra-curricular activities
  • Assist school administrators regarding such matters as in-service training programs and public relations
  • Assist attendance and transportation personnel in maintaining procedures for the school ● Assist in the budgetary process
  • Assists the operation of secondary level committees and provides leadership to achieve District goals
  • Works cooperatively with other administrators’, staff, students and community groups
  • Provides assistance to teachers to meet student needs
  • Organizes and conducts meetings with staff to discuss student problems
  • Keeps informed regarding the changing role of education through attendance at administrative meetings and conferences
  • Develops and maintains a positive communications system with the community, teaching staff, administrators and Board of Education ○ This implies the continuous maintenance of an open door policy so that all staff members and community feel welcome to discuss policies or problems
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee
