South Carolina Learns, established in 2013, provides fully accredited, top-notch education for grades K-12 through Cyber Academy of South Carolina (CASC) and Heron Virtual Academy of South Carolina (HVASC). We provide an individualized virtual education so students are prepared to enter the workforce or continue with postsecondary education regardless of circumstance.
Under the direction of a certified classroom teacher and/or school administrator, HVA paraprofessionals supplement student education and assist classroom teachers with administrative duties. They support the Special Education department’s compliance efforts.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.
Assist classroom teachers with collecting data and administering assessments as needed
Support students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans
Participate in school outings and in-person testing as assigned
Observe student progress, keep notes, and report to classroom teacher and/or other school designee(s)
Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned by school administration
Understand and adhere to all school-level and school district policies and procedures
Facilitate communication efforts between the Special Education department and families
Assist with compliance for the Special Education department
Required Qualifications
Great organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; Experience using databases; Web proficiency
Ability to clear required background check
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a virtual classroom

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 8-4 or as defined by the school.
