Occupational Therapist

St. Coletta of Greater Washington is a non-sectarian, nonprofit organization that supports individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and secondary disabilities. We are currently seeking an Occupational Therapist who will be responsible for evaluating, planning, and administering occupational therapy treatments to aid students’ physical, developmental, intellectual, and emotional habilitation.

Examples of Essential Functions:

Develop, coordinate, and implement individual occupational therapy intervention plans that support the IEP goals and objectives using an integrated service model.
Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations using a variety of assessment tools and resources; develop written evaluations.
Recommend, design, and assist in the procurement of adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and augmentative/alternative communication systems necessary for students to meet IEP goals.
Educate students and their guardian/family about home exercises, self-care, and daily living activities, as appropriate emphasizing muscle education involving reach, grasp, release, opposition, coordination, relaxation, and balance; adapt games, arts and crafts, housekeeping tasks, and other activities as a therapeutic exercise.
Attend interdisciplinary treatment planning meetings, maintain age specific competency, and recommend and dispense adaptive equipment.
Timely completion of all paperwork including therapy logs, service tracker forms, ETF documentation, Medicaid documentation, billing, and progress reports.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in occupational therapy, and licensed as an Occupational Therapist through the Board of Occupational Therapy with the District of Columbia. Prior experience working with children with intellectual disabilities, autism, and/or multiple disabilities is a plus.
Ability to independently problem solve and navigate the steps needed to accomplish the tasks of the position.
Requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

About St. Coletta Special Education Public Charter School (DC)

St. Coletta of Greater Washington is a non-profit organization, which serves children and adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, or multiple disabilities. Our special education school serves students ages 3-22 years old. Each student has an IEP, and in addition to participating in classroom activities, is able to receive various forms of therapy on campus.  Our core program includes: functional academics, skills of daily living, community based instruction, adaptive physical education, arts education, computer skills and vocational training. The school is located in Washington, DC, and community based instruction is an important part of the programming, as are activities focused on teaching vocational and life skills. Our Adult Programs offers adults ages 18 and older opportunities to participate in vocational / pre-vocational training, supported employment, life skills training, and community integration in order to achieve greater independence.
