The basic functions of this position are to work in conjunction with local, state, and out-of-state authorities, to include police officers, probation officers, and the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office to obtain information relating to criminal charges and convictions of students; to serve as case manager for all criminal reassignment and school discipline cases to include facilitating school placement and annual reviews; to attend court proceedings to follow through with criminal cases; to confer with the hearing officers on school discipline cases, as well as cases involving school reportable offenses; to communicate with local school staff regarding reassignment cases; to meet with and inform the Director of the Student Management and Alternative Programs Department (SMAPD) on all criminal issues and topics that impact the school division, and to prepare summaries for all cases submitted to the School Board. This position also supports families in the school discipline and school reportable process with transition services during reassignment.
