Job Overview

LCPS BEAM Summer Math Discovery is a program for middle school students run during the summer out of the Academies of Loudoun.  The BEAM Counselor plays an essential role in supporting middle school students and ensuring the program runs smoothly. Under the supervision of the Mathematics Programs Coordinator, you will engage with students, manage activities, and handle program logistics. BEAM Counselors are passionate about mathematics and working with students, offering a unique opportunity to make a positive impact in a dynamic and rewarding environment.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.

  • Engage with students in mathematics and non-mathematics activities
  • Set up and engage with students in daily activities
  • Assist with meal preparation and service
  • Perform related work as required

 

Qualifications

Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.

  • Science, technology, engineering, or mathematics interest
  • Ability to work effectively with middle school students; to carry out designated instructional assignments.
  • Good human relations and communication skills

Salary Level: Banded Rates: Band 1 / $14.59 hourly

This position is a part-time, non-benefitted position with no guarantee of the number of hours.
