Position / Title: Bilingual Cross Categorical Teacher- Secondary

Function / Position Summary
To provide individualized instruction as mandated by individual student IEPs
 
Job Duties / Responsibilities

  • Provide direct services and instruction as mandated by the IEP.
  • Administration of classroom, district and state assessment.
  • Modification of classroom assignments and test for integrated students.
  • Ongoing collaboration with parents and staff.
  • Complete diagnostic/progress monitoring components as determined on domain sheets.
  • Share responsibility for testing students as determined by School Service Team discussion.
  • Enter diagnostic information into data-based screens and create hard copy of diagnostic report.
  • Attend School Service Team and IEP meetings when necessary.
  • Complete data-based screens for annual reviews/reevaluations for case load students.
  • Obtain information from classroom teacher on student’s present level of performance for IEP meetings.
  • Share responsibility for entering data collected on intervention process for initial evaluations on ELL evaluations as determined by service team.
  • Update progress reports on the same timeline as report cards.
  • Develop transition plans and Summary of Performance for students turning 14 years or older during the IEP dates.
  • Collaborative grade reporting with General Education teachers.
  • Management and reporting of subject grades for instructional students.
  • Create data driven goals and objectives based on student needs, grade level, and core standards for case load students.
  • Monitor case load for annual review and reevaluation dates.
  • Oversee that goals are update on data-based screen, following building time lines, by the case manager and/or related staff.
  • Oversee that all services on the IEP are implemented.
  • Provide accommodations and modification list to necessary general education staff.
  • Attend contract meetings.
  • Attend school professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal, or other administrative staff.

 
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related subject from accredited university.
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS I endorsement and Bilingual Special Education Approval; OR
  • PEL with any teaching endorsement, a Bilingual Education endorsement and Bilingual Special Education Approval; OR
  • Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) with a Transitional Bilingual Educator (TBE) endorsement in Bilingual Education and a Bilingual Special Education Approval.
  • Previous experience in Special Education

 
Experience / Knowledge

  • Knowledge of common core standards.
  • Knowledge of secondary general education curriculum.
  • Knowledge of instructional and resource programs for students with a variety of special education eligibilities.
  • Certified to administer ELL testing (ACCESS, Model, and IPT).

 
Physical Demands

  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.
  • Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching

 
Terms of Employment

  • This is a 9-month position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
