Job Description:

 

Under the supervision of the Director of Infrastructure and Support Services within the Technology Services Department, the Student Helpdesk Technician will provide direct technology support to students in the middle schools. This person will coordinate support activities with other administrative support staff and Technology Services personnel as well as communicate with school based staff in support of the program. The goal of this position is to create and sustain a student supported digital learning community. This position will work to create opportunities for students to assist in the support of the computer devices and training for other students.

 

Qualifications:


Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

Certificates & Licenses: None required.

 

Experience: Experience with assisting large scale deployments and projects; experience with device (laptop/tablet) management; work experience with students ages 10-17 preferred.

 

Key Competencies:

  • General knowledge of Chromebooks or similar devices
  • Participation in large scale deployments or projects
  • Familiarity with inventory management practices and software
  • Use of device management software, office software and helpdesk ticketing systems and practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise day-to-day operations for a Student Helpdesk
  • Coordinate and lead new student device training bi-weekly
  • Serve as a primary resource for students who need troubleshooting help
  • Provide students with leadership opportunities by mentoring them as student staff
  • Communicate support procedures and opportunities to students, administrators, staff and parents
  • Work with School Resource Officers and Administration to develop and implement lost and stolen procedures for devices
  • Manage inventory
  • Assist with coordinating school and department staff to develop and implement
  • Chromebook distribution, training and collection
  • Serve as a resource for student-lead projects and other technology initiatives
  • Assist with standardized online testing as needed
  • May perform other additional duties or tasks as designated by supervisor.

Clearances

  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.

Public Health Compliance

  • Must follow safety and health protocols.
