Residency Requirements: This position is virtual and strongly prefer residents of Texas. May consider residents of surrounding states (NM, OK, AK or LA). This position could include travel up to 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school.

The Assistant Manager, Emergent Bilingual (EB) Program supports the development and implementation of policies and procedures in collaboration with the Manager, Emergent Bilingual (EB) Program. The role also assists the Senior Manager, Special Programs with developing and implementing more general academic policies and procedures and with school operations. Responsible for directly supervising some EB staff, including Coordinators and Teachers.

This is a full-time REMOTE position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 8am-5pm central time. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

  • Develop, implement, and disseminate “best practices” for EB policies and procedures in collaboration with school leadership and Manager, EB Program.
  • Support the school’s administration and teachers in providing training on and implementation of the EB program.
  • Create and maintain appropriate contacts with district(s), intermediate units, and state EB leaders in order to ensure continued compliance of EB programs and represent the school throughout the state in meetings and trainings related to the implementation of EB programs.
  • Support with oversight of the development, compliance, maintenance, and implementation of all compliance meetings for all eligible students through deadlines for services and LPAC meetings that follow state and federal guidelines.
  • Support EB Manager with ensuring fiscal compliance for EB programming to fit the needs of the EB student population.
  • Work with the Testing Manager to ensure that all students receive appropriate accommodations during state testing.
  • Work with Stride enrollment team to develop processes for ensuring timely identification and enrollment of students that qualify for EB.
  • Support EB Manager with proactively communicating all changes in local, state and/or federal EB practices and laws to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Ensure that EB students are integrated in all school activities and that general education and administrative staff work collaboratively to ensure academic success for all students.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 20+ Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and/or contractors including EB Coordinators and EB Compliance Specialists.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Master’s degree AND
  • Three (3) years teaching EB students AND
  • One (1) year of educational leadership experience
  • Project management experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with both in-person and electronic communication platforms and a customer service orientation
  • Able to read data and determine what steps are needed to assist students academically and behaviorally, as a whole and on an individual basis
  • Able to apply adult instructional methods in the training and development of staff
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrates the use of good judgment in decision-making
  • Understanding of applicable sections of the State Education Code and other pertinent regulations
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to support student testing, attend meetings, attend professional development, and to participate in school activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams and Word
  • Ability to clear required background check
