Position Summary: Catapult Learning in Lakewood is seeking a Social Skills Specialist to address the social-emotional and behavioral needs of students. This role involves close collaboration with school administration to identify students' deficiencies and establish a tailored course of action.
Job Function Description: Impact and support students’ behavioral, personal, emotional, and social development and welfare. Nurture student potential through personalized, small group, and classroom counseling. You’ll also perform student learning assessments and help parents and families access relevant community resources. Role & Responsibilities:
· Interact with key school personnel, including school administration and teachers, to identify students' academic and social-emotional needs.
· Obtain parental consent for program participation once SEL Skills is deemed necessary.
· Establish goals and plans for students based on their academic and social-emotional needs, as identified by administration and/or faculty.
· Work with students in a 1:1 or small-group setting to address their academic and social-emotional challenges.
· Plan and implement developmentally appropriate social skills curriculum across grade levels, from Kindergarten through High School.
· Use assessments to track students’ social development.
· Integrate social communication goals into classroom activities.
· Collaborate with teachers on specialized strategies for use directly within classrooms.
· Adhere to compliance requirements, including documentation and reporting, as set forth by the NJ Department of Education and Catapult Learning.
· Perform additional responsibilities as needed and determined by the Counseling Program Supervisor/Manager.
Qualifications:
· Ability to successfully implement and manage established plans to address each child's SEL challenges.
· Knowledge of basic educational skills, including math and literacy.
· Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
· Personable, caring, and professional in interactions with students, parents, and faculty.
· Experience in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate social skills curriculum across various grade levels.
Requirements:
· Work directly and regularly with Catapult Manager/Supervisor to provide updates, receive guidance, and follow additional directions when needed.
· Master’s degree in education or a related discipline. Without an MA, or with a BA, candidates can be considered for a “Social Skills Specialist” position if they have completed at least 10 hours of relevant training and have teaching or mentoring experience.
