QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Bachelor’s Degree
Valid Texas Elementary Teaching Certification with E.S.L. endorsement
Demonstrated general knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position
Montessori credential from a MACTE accredited center preferred
Montessori training and/or experience preferred
Experience in a multi-age Montessori environment preferred
Gifted and Talented 30 hours preferred
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
 
Willingness to attend and complete Montessori training, funded by GISD, within the first three years during personal time, implement the Montessori philosophy and curriculum in a multi-age environment
Prepare and present lessons that accommodate for differences in student learning styles in a multiage setting
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing
Present subject matter according to curriculum standards established by Texas Education Agency
Establish and maintaining efficient classroom management procedures and standards of student behavior
Implement a variety of strategies and resources, including technology, to meet students' needs
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflect an understanding of learning styles and needs of students assigned
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of the students
Establish a system of student evaluation within the guidelines prescribed in state law or adopted by the school district to advance student performance levels as required by federal, state and local accountability system
Establish and maintain open and effective communication with parents, students, administration and other teachers
Perform other duties as assigned
