Stipend: $7,000 for the 2024-25 school year (paid in two equal payments of $3,500)

Qualifications:
  • CURRENT GISD EMPLOYEE with employment for the 2024-25 school year
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certification with required endorsement - Mathematics
  • Minimum three (3) years teaching experience in AP mathematics course(s)

Responsibilities:
  • Proactively own the work of leading the AP course.
  • Work with district administrators and specialists to encourage student participation in honors/Pre-AP and AP classes to grow the GISD AP program.
  • Model and communicate with all stakeholders GISD honors/Pre-AP and AP courses are open enrollment and promote access and equity for all students.
  • Build trusting relationships with campus principals, administrators, AP coordinators, and teachers.
  • Mentor AP and honors/Pre-AP teachers and provide frequent and ongoing professional development (scheduling, marketing, and leading AP PLCs) in collaboration with content coordinators including:
    • Utilizing resources provided by the College Board and GISD.
    • Effectively using instructional planning reports to modify instructional practices to improve student academic achievement.
    • Recruiting students for AP course enrollment. 
  • Study district AP data to identify campus and district strengths and weaknesses to provide targeted teacher support.
  • Assist AP and honors/Pre-AP teachers with student study session resources and attendance tracking.
  • Communicate regularly with district administrators and remind AP teachers of important training dates.
