Position Description:
Per Diem Clinicals Instructor - Registered Nurse with Medical Surgical Nursing experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
The instructor in the Practical Nursing Program is a part-time position. Hours will fluctuate with each term as needed. Most clinical rotations are scheduled on weekdays, 8 hour day shifts. Clinicals are conducted in hospital, long term care, pediatric clinic and other settings. Clinicals instructors in the Practical Nursing program will follow the guidelines set by the Florida Board of Nursing, and the Department of Education. Curriculum is provided based on the above guidelines. Clinical skills such as ADL’s, wound care, medication administration, urinary catheters, assessment, documentation, evaluation and all basic nursing interventions are directly supervised by instructors in the clinical setting.
The ideal candidate would have a willingness to train on patient simulators with high-fidelity technology. These simulators require solid computer skills and knowledge. Candidates with current experience in nursing simulations would be strongly considered.
Qualifications:
Unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida. A Bachelor’s of Science degree is preferred, but not required. Consideration of experience may qualify a candidate.

Duties of the Practical Nursing Clinical Instructor include but are not limited to:
1. Guided by the Practical Nursing Department’s mission statement that supports lifelong learning opportunities in an atmosphere of support.
2. Follows established academic policies and procedures of the Treasure Coast Technical College that facilitate instruction, administration, and student well-being.
3. Provides theory and clinical instruction that supports the learning objectives identified for course assigned.
4. Demonstrates appropriate preparation for clinical instruction, supervision, and student evaluation.
5. Develops and maintains an environment conducive to effective learning.
6. Utilizes effective teaching methodologies as appropriate in the clinical setting, and available to enhance student learning.
7. Evaluates student progress in clinical facilities and provides written evaluations as requested by the supervisor in a timely manner.
8. Demonstrates effective interpersonal relations and communication skills with students, staff, faculty, and all Treasure Coast Technical College employees.
9. Attends and participates in reconvening activities, divisional, and departmental faculty meetings as requested.
10. Maintains education and clinical competencies in areas of instructional responsibilities.
11. Willingness to participate in activities that promote guidelines for the programs accreditation through the Council on Occupational Education.
12. Maintains mutual respect in professional relationships with all students of the Treasure Coast Technical College.
