JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, the Program Coordinator Science and Social Science provides leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum and instructional practices to support student achievement. This role serves as a central resource with regard to strategies and procedures for implementing in-service activities related to staff development. Prepares reports regarding student performance then collaborates with instructional teams to plan changes within the instructional program.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- M.A. or M.S. in Education
- Professional Educator License with General Administration Endorsement and Science and Social Science Endorsement.
- Five or more years of successful teaching experience.
- Knowledgeable of Current research and Best Practices in Science and Social Science.
- Demonstrated Skills in Leadership, Administration and Human Relations.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of best practices and current research related to Science and Social Science instruction.
- Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis and its use in improving teaching and learning.
- Experience in the development and implementation of Science and Social Science curriculum and programs.

- Provide recommendations for implementation of Science and the Social Science curriculum.
- Provide recommendations for professional development in Science and the Social Science curriculum
- Act as liaison with Joliet Township High School Science and Social Science Curriculum Departments.
- Assist principals and teachers with implementation of the Science and Social Science curriculum for grades K-8.
- Plan and evaluate curriculum, instructional support, and staff development for administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals focused on and aligned to State and Federal standards.
- Provide leadership through the use of benchmark assessments in Social Science and Science to design and implement strategies to improve student achievement.
- Manages Illinois Science Assessment, data and practice supports for grades 5 and 8.
- Monitors instructional programs to ensure proper engagement.
- Oversees the refurbishing and distribution of science and social studies materials.
- Attend and participate in professional organizations and inform administrators and instructional staff of effective programs.
- Manages and assist schools for District Science Fair process.
- Assist with and implement any additional professional development as requested by building principals based on the needs of their staff and students.
- Serve as a liaison between District 86 and Joliet Township High School District 204 regarding Social Science and Science.
- Assist with special programs as needed.
- Maintain commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Other responsibilities and duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instructions or Designee.
