TITLE:

Cafeteria Worker

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Join our team as a vital member in our bustling food service operation! As a key player, you will assist in food preparation, efficiently handle cash registers and POS systems, and maintain a pristine kitchen environment. Your responsibilities will also involve serving students and staff, managing daily deposits in accordance with our revenue policy, and ensuring seamless inventory control. Be prepared to dive into a dynamic role that includes everything from dishwashing to stock organization, with the opportunity to tackle additional tasks as assigned by our supportive Cafeteria Manager and Director. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Demonstrated aptitude for successful performance of task listed. One (1) year of previous food service experience is preferred.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITY:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Knowledge of food service equipment and of institutional meal preparation is preferred. Must be able to comprehend verbal and written instructions. Ability to work with food service staff, faculty, and students; to communicate with food service staff, faculty, and students; must understand and learn all safety and sanitation regulations pertaining to food service; ability to lift/carry a minimum of 40 lbs.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help with food preparation as needed
  • Support daily program operations including operating the cash register, POS computer, washing pots, cleaning tables, using the dish machine, and serving students and staff during meal distribution.
  • Aid in handling daily deposits while adhering to the Framingham School Nutrition Revenue Policy.
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and cafeteria.
  • Assist in restocking supplies and managing inventory.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager or the Director of School Nutrition

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

The position requires a moderate amount of walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, and a step stool whenever necessary.  Activities also include moderate physical exertion in body movement such as reaching, bending, twisting, grasping, pushing, and pulling objects.  The position requires lifting of 40 pounds on a frequent basis and over 40 pounds occasionally.

 

The occupant is required to work indoors.  The regular chemical solvents used are cleaning fluids.  The occupant will be exposed to extreme heat / cold conditions.  The occupant is expected to wear vinyl gloves and proper hair restraints when serving and working with food.  The occupant is expected to follow the uniform policy set by the Director of Food Service.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about and may be required to traverse occasionally throughout the school building. The employee must frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and use hand strength to grasp tools. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to move quickly across even or uneven surfaces. The employee will be working in a normal school environment with an acceptable level of noise. The employee interacts with students and other staff members.

FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) CLASSIFICATION:

This position is classified as Non-Exempt (hourly).

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a ten (10) month position (191 days)

Covered under Food Service Association (Unit N) Contract.
