SUMMARY: To assist the administration in providing a safe and orderly environment for all students and staff by monitoring building and grounds security and building access
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.
Works and communicates clearly and effectively with students, parents, staff, and the public.
Monitors building, building access points, grounds, and facilities.
Greets, check-in, and escorts building visitors to appropriate location.
Ensures District and School policies regarding visitor entry are followed.
Performs appropriate checks and verification of appropriate building access.
Maintains composure in difficult situations and uses de-escalation tactics when necessary.
Coordinates calm, orderly and safe travel throughout building.
Monitors, directs and supervise students effectively.
Addresses confidential matters with professionalism and discretion.
Perform computer and recording duties applicable to the position utilizing software used by the District.
Recognizes problems and locates resources to resolve them.
Understands policies and expectations and can communicate them clearly to students, staff, volunteers, parents, and other visitors.
Fosters good behavior and orderly conduct among students.
Establishes effective interactions with students who have made a first-time mistake/error and also those students who are habitual offenders.
Works effectively with students with at-risk needs.
Assist in the development of an atmosphere where learning can take place.
Monitors, directs and supervises students effectively to deter or prevent inappropriate behavior.
Keeps and maintains adequate visitor data/records and provides data/records to the administrator as required for the position.
Reports any and all safety hazards and security threats immediately to supervisor..
Exhibits a reliable, punctual, dependable, honest, and self-motivated approach.
Exhibits a positive image as a loyal representative of the school district.
Perform all other duties as delegated by the immediate supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides supervision for students.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum previous experience of six (6) months to one (1) year with school-aged children. Demonstrated aptitude for successful performance of the essential duties and responsibilities as listed in the job description. Basic knowledge of all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations for students and public schools and Board of Education policies.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, co-workers, and other employees of the organization. Ability to communicate well with others, both verbally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but basic, written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers, staff, and students. Ability to perform job and communicate in a sometimes noisy environment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Strong background of computers and keyboarding are preferred with knowledge and experience of software used by the District. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements, Board of Education policies, and all applicable Federal, State and local regulations. Must exhibit reliable, punctual, dependable, honest, and self-motivated abilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and continuously required to stand. The employee will occasionally bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, and depth perception and peripheral vision and color vision. Ability to operate office and school equipment such as computer, educational technology, telephone, etc. Able to respond effectively to emergency concerns for the purposes of resolving immediate safety concerns. Occasionally move and transport up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Attendance and punctuality are an expectation of the position.
