Description:Master Teachers function in a unique manner relative to the traditional teacher. Their primary role is to work with the principal and leadership team to analyze student data and create and institute an academic achievement plan for the school. Master teachers lead cluster groups, monitor goal setting, and provide demonstration lessons, coaching, and team teaching to career teachers. They also spend an average of two hours each day teaching students (approximately 25% of the week). Master Teachers collaborate to determine and to develop the adoption of learning resources and professional development for teachers.Job Summary:1. Analyze school-wide student data as the basis for developing a school plan2. Develop with the school TAP leadership team the school plan, utilizing the TAP processes3. Oversee the planning, facilitation, and follow-up of cluster group meetings4. Team-teach with colleagues, demonstrate model lessons and develop and help implementcurriculum5. Observe and provide peer assistance and coaching toward meeting teachers’ IGP goals6. Research and field-test, within the school, appropriate strategies that target the identified areaof student need7. Evaluate teacher performance by using the TAP Rubrics and conduct follow-up teacherConferences8. Participate in all TAP trainings and become a Certified TAP Evaluator; annual recertificationis required9. Participate in all TAP School Leadership Team meeting activities10. Attend professional development meeting with the TAP Executive Master Teacher and otherMaster Teachers to enhance skills and provide teachers with the best instructionalinterventions and strategies11. Work an expanded calendar yearQualifications:Teaching Certificate, Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in relevant academic discipline with at least five years successful teaching experience, including experience with regular and special education students as measured by performance evaluations, a portfolio of work, some experience in mentoring teachers, demonstrated expertise in content, curriculum development, student achievement and assessment, as measured by a collection of the teacher’s work in each area. Master Teacher should also have graduate work, work experience, or intensive professional development in the areas of team teaching, mentoring, supervision and strategic planning. Master Teacher should have excellent communication skills and an understanding of how to facilitate growth in adults. Master Teacher will be required to demonstrate teaching skills.
