Job Overview

This is warehouse work involving loading and unloading shipments and making deliveries to school locations. An employee in this class is responsible for receiving, storing, picking up, and delivering materials and supplies processed through the school system central warehouse. Work includes operation of forklift equipment and delivery vans. Workers follow specific instructions and procedures and refer non-standard situations or problems to others.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.

 

  • Unloads shipments by hand or forklift; verifies accuracy of order; labels items; and delivers textbooks to schools.
  • Receives and, as necessary, assembles items and stores items in designated warehouse locations. 
  • Pick-up items for delivery to school facilities. 
  • Pick-up and move items to school facilities/locations, as assigned. 
  • Performs physical inventory, as assigned. 
  • Performs related work as required.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to learn warehouse duties; to operate the tools and equipment used in the work; to follow oral and written instructions. 
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.

 

Physical Requirements

The following provides a brief description of physical requirements for this job:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to walk, stand, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, use hands while operating tools and equipment. The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds. The employee is required to see for the safe operation of a motor vehicle or forklift. This employee will be exposed to temperature changes and extremes, inclement weather and possible loud noises and subject to hazards encountered while operating or working closely to forklifts, delivery trucks and other material handling equipment. 

 

 

Reports to: Coordinator, Distribution Center

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Months/Days/Hours: 12 months, 254 days, 8 hours per day

Salary Level: Universal 5

Salary Scale: https://www.lcps.org/compensation

Salary Range: $21.96 - $28.18
