Position:     Food Service Worker 4 hours/day

                 (ten-month assignment)

 

Location:    Food and Nutrition Services/Various Sites

 

Salary:      The salary for this position will be based on the EASMC-ESP ten-month four-hour food service employees salary schedule – Range 2. ($12,254 - $18,533)

 

Effective:    August 2024

NATURE OF WORK:

Performs a variety of tasks related to food production and food service in a fast-paced environment under the direction of the food service manager. The work requires a substantial amount of physical dexterity, can be repetitive, and requires prolonged standing. Food Service Workers are provided on the job training and are expected to become proficient in accomplishing required duties during a six-month probationary period.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to professionally relate to and collaborate with co-workers, students, and community members
  • Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to use technology effectively to complete tasks
  • Ability to report to work daily and on time
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs.
  • Possess effective organizational skills
  • Possess effective oral communication skills 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cooks and prepares bulk quantities of food items
  • Sets up serving lines and serves food items on the line
  • Operates a computerized point of sale system
  • Operates a dishwasher
  • Washes pots and pans in a three-compartmented sink
  • Cleans and sanitizes food service equipment and associated spaces
  • Maintains high-quality food preparation and the highest caliber of customer service
  • Works effectively with others as part of a team
  • Coordinates with other school staff in support of the recycling program
  • Participates in promotions of new food items and nutrition education activities
  • Fills in for the manager – after proficiency is demonstrated
  • Performs other duties as required 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Must be physically able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a commercial food service environment. 

 

 

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT

Half-time ten-month position.

 

SALARY GRADE RANGE:

The salary for this position will be based on EASMC-ESP salary schedule for ten-month four-hour food service employees – Range 2.
