A current vacancy exists for a Middle School Counselor within the Norristown Area School District located at Eisenhower Science and Technology Leadership Academy.
Qualifications:
- PA Certification in Guidance and Counseling
- Experience working with middle school age students preferred
- Spanish Speaking preferred

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

Ability to write reports and business correspondence

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Duties & Responsibilities:

Counsel at strategic intervals with students who are having academic, behavioral, and/or social-emotional problems

Select and administer special purpose tests designed to yield information helpful to the student/counselor

Assure that each student has the benefit of placement services – either from the individual counselor or by cooperative arrangement within the pupil personnel team

Assure that a system of student personal and educational records is maintained and updated periodically

Coordinate the maintenance and growth of a library of student guidance information and materials: personal, social, occupational, and educational

Ascertains that parents of students who have been systematically identified as having academic, behavioral, and/or social-emotional problems are informed concerning the problems and that they are invited to cooperate with the student, the counselor, and the school toward a solution to the problem(s)

Establishes and maintains parental awareness of the guidance function, its place, and its importance by periodic and continuing use of newsletters, brochures, and other communication techniques

Meet periodically with administration and staff to improve intra-building communication concerning general understanding and awareness of student’s needs, student characteristics, and the central place of those factors in all professional planning

Communicates the needs of individual students to appropriate professional personnel, when those needs become apparent

Alerts the professional staff to the need for, and preparation for, identification of students who have educational, emotional, or social problems, or who appear to be inclined toward such problems

Cooperates with building administration as it plans and conducts student orientation programs

Establishes and maintains effective liaison relationships with community agency resources
- Collaborates with school team to analyze data and determine appropriate interventions
- Conduct risk/threat assessments for students in need
- Facilitate, conduct, and assist in the implementation of FBAs and PBSPs for students
Salary:
2023-2024 salary schedule (Teachers contract is currently under negotiation) The rates below are the current rates:
Bachelor's - $51,733 to $57,899(Step 5)
Bachelor's + 24 - $54,987 to $62,383(Step 5)
Master's - $58,074 to $66,699 (Step 5)
Master's + 15 - $60,547 to $69,608(Step 5)
Master's + 30 - $63,019 to $72,515 (Step 5)
Master's + 45 - $63,484 to $72,999 (Step 5)
Doctorate/Master's + 60 - $63,947 to $73,485 (Step 5)
