Job Overview

The Federal Programs Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing federal education programs, specifically Title I, Part A, and Title II, Part A, within the school division. This position ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, coordinates the effective use of allocated funds, and provides professional development and support to schools, including equitable services for participating private schools, to improve student outcomes and teacher quality. The specialist works closely with district and school staff, private school representatives, community members, and federal agencies to ensure program goals are achieved.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of federal programs funded under Title I, Part A and Title II, Part A.
  • Monitor the use of Title I and Title II funds to ensure compliance with federal, state, and district policies.
  • Assist schools in developing and implementing comprehensive schoolwide plans for Title I.
  • Collaborate with school leaders to assess staff development needs and coordinate professional development to improve teacher effectiveness and student performance.
  • Engage families and community stakeholders to ensure their participation in Title I, Part A planning and activities.
  • Support equitable services for non-profit private schools that participate in Title I and/or Title II.



Qualifications

     Education

     Bachelor’s degree

 

     Experience

     Three years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience

 

     Licenses and Certifications

     Holds or is eligible for a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement  in Administration and Supervision PreK-12 preferred

 

     Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in education 
  • Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and meet deadlines 
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with administrators, teachers, and the public 
  • Ability to communicate with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds

Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Months/Days/Hours: 12 months/ 248 days/ 8 hours

Salary Level: Universal 16

Salary Range:$92,712 - $152,743
