TITLE: Administrative Secretary: Special Education (10-month)
TYPE OF POSITION: Part-time (.6 - 24 hours/week), school year position (anticipated immediate start); salary commensurate with experience (under consideration - current range $22.76-$29.90/hour)

The Administrative Secretary: Special Education (10-month) provides routine clerical and secretarial assistance during the school year, including appointments, correspondence, and filing. The incumbent knows the informal policies, procedures and practices necessary to conduct the normal function of a specific section, unit, or work area, and is aware of the role of the position and its potential impact on the working unit.
The Administrative Building Secretary for Special Education reports to the Principal and the Director of Student Services, with input from the Team Chair.
DUTIES:
The incumbent provides basic administrative secretarial support to the building’s Special Education staff, including, but not limited to the following:
- Assists Team Chairs with data entry, meeting notices, verification and distribution of mandated special education documents to the Student Service Office for processing;
- Handles all copying requests, mailing, and filing reports and correspondence;
- Collects and maintains mandated documents, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality for the building’s students within the Special Education Program;
- Supports Progress Report procedures with proactive notification of due dates, procedures and case load to administrators and liaisons;
- Operates personal computer to access Special Education software (eSped), and student data (Power School);
- Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To be considered qualified for the position of Administrative Secretary for Special Education (10-month), candidates must have/be:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with courses in typing/word processing, business machine operation, and general office procedure;
- Good knowledge of arithmetic, spelling, and the English language;
- Skill in operating a personal computer and basic office software, such as the Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with Power School and ESped, while not required, considered a plus;
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing;
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the supervisor(s) may find appropriate and in conformity with state and federal requirements.
