TITLE:

Program Lead of Out-of-School Time Program

2024-2025 School Year

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Lead of Out of School Time (OST) works closely with the Out-of-School Time Coordinator and is at the forefront of supporting the successful implementation of all learning opportunities outside of regular school hours. The Program Lead’s primary focus will be on the coordination of program development and implementation, but they may also support personnel, budget, and operations as needed or assigned.

 

FPS operates Before and After School programs from 7 a.m. until the school start time and from dismissal until 6:00 p.m., including early release days, some vacation weeks, and summer sessions. It is our mission to provide high-quality, affordable Out-of-School Time care to Framingham children in grades Pre-K through fifth.

 

Through a collaborative effort with school staff, the community, and the OST Coordinator, the Program Lead’s role is to provide a high-quality OST program experience for students that complements the education they receive in the classroom. With a strong focus on project-based learning, the program supports students by building and improving skill sets useful both today and in the future through an engaging and academically rigorous environment where students are expected to meet the same standards and are encouraged to find their own paths to achieving them.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Two (2) minimum years experience in working with school-age children in a supervisory role. High school degree/GED required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, with a degree in Education or related field. Bilingual Portuguese or Spanish skills preferred.

Strong understanding of curriculum development, data, and assessment management. Ability to think critically, solve problems, and adapt to changing educational landscapes as well as the ability to work in a high pressure and fast paced environment. Previous experience in program coordination, family engagement, or community outreach. Working knowledge of youth development and current trends in OST and ELO best practices. Experience working closely with school administration and faculty. Proficiency in Microsoft applications, and Google applications. Bilingual (Portuguese and/or Spanish) skills are encouraged to apply.

  • Implement both before and after school programs, services, and activities to ensure they meet state/district objectives, align with the school day, and serve the needs and interests of students.
  • Collaborate with OST coordinator to plan, develop, implement, evaluate overall programs.
  • Assists with supervision of before school staff
  • Ensure and enforce compliance with district policies and procedures for all staff.
  • Meet twice a month with OST coordinator for supervision and planning time.
  • Ensure a productive work environment at all sites.
  • Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders, and organizations.
  • Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned by OST coordinator and/or director
  • Assist OST coordinator with maintenance of EEC licensing applications, site visits, paperwork/ record keeping, and all other state requirements 

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Consistent attendance is required for this position, which involves moving throughout the school and may occasionally require traversing different areas. The role necessitates remaining stationary for extended periods, reaching, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and lifting at least 20 pounds, such as books and supplies. Frequent use of hands for tasks that involve handling and grasping tools is essential.

 

The individual must assist students with physical difficulties, operate computers and office machinery, and effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff. Continuous sight and hearing are necessary for student safety, and the individual may need to move quickly across various surfaces.

 

Interaction with students and staff is crucial, and the individual should be prepared to kneel, sit, stand, and crawl to support children throughout the day. Responsibilities include ensuring student safety and well-being while handling multiple demands. While most work occurs indoors, time outdoors for recess and special activities is also required.

 

The position may involve exposure to bodily fluids, aggressive behavior, and the need for physical interaction with students. Limited personal care may be required, including assisting with toileting, and the role could involve transferring to different schools based on student needs.
