Burlington School District is accepting applications for a Reading Interventionist (LTC) for our SY24-25 school year. The Reading Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in the area of English Language Arts, with special attention to reading across the curriculum. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance. Essential skills include comfort, competence and knowledge in providing reading interventions for adolescent readers at the middle level.
Required Qualifications:
- Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License
- Experience in reading instruction/interventions
- School experience at the middle school level
- Knowledge of best practices regarding student management protocols
- Knowledge of middle school research based best practices that accelerate learning for all students
- Experience working with diverse learners
Preferred Attributes:
- Training and/or experience with English Language Learners.
- Experience in a professional/teaching learning community
- Evidence of student-centered learning approaches including personalizing instruction and supporting students meeting core proficiencies
- Evidence of implementing inclusive practices for students with special needs.
- Knowledge of assessments and use of data to inform instruction
EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS/TERMS:
- SALARY: As per the Master Agreement between the Burlington Board of School Commissioners and the Burlington Education Association. This is a salaried position paid Bi-Weekly with a lump sum payment for the summer period.
- SCHOOL YEAR: 10 months, 187 workdays (based on start date), 7.75 per day/38.75 per week
- BENEFITS: Benefits eligible on start date. 30 days to enroll in coverage from start day. BSD Benefits!
- PAID TIME: Sick Time / Personal Time As per the Master Agreement.
