TITLE: Homebound Instructor

 

REPORTS TO: Homebound Coordinator



POSITION SUMMARY:


A Homebound Instructor shall be made available to qualifying students who are confined at home or in a health care facility for periods that would prevent normal school attendance which means the student is unable to participate in the normal day-to-day activities typically expected during school attendance.

 

Homebound instruction is designed to provide continuity of educational services between the classroom and the home setting or health care facility for students whose medical needs, both physical and psychological, impact school attendance for a limited period of time.

 

Homebound Instruction is assigned on an as needed basis.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid Virginia Teaching License
  • Experience working with students in a school setting
  • Must have own transportation

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • The homebound instructor will act as a liaison between the student and school; working with school SST to pick up assignments and return them as needed
  • The homebound instructor will provide appropriate instruction based on the student’s grade level and class assignments
  • The homebound instructor will communicate student progress with teachers, counselors, and homebound coordinator or designee
  • Homebound instructors will provide in person and/or virtual instruction based on the needs of the student.


COMPENSATION:

 

$46.00/ Hour

 

Payment includes instruction time only, no transportation time is included.

 

 

Clearances

  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.
